Battery on E-Ink Withings 'Go' Wearable Lasts 8 Months
The latest fitness tracker from Withings looks more like a Kindle due east-reader accessory than a loftier-tech health gadget.
The $69.95 Get vesture sports an always-on e-ink multiscreen display that automatically tracks steps, distance, running, swimming, and sleep—all for $69.
A main screen highlights the user's level of activeness: A dial increases as you progress toward the twenty-four hour period's activeness goal. Once that target is met, the central icon changes to display a digital reward.
The Get automatically recognizes various types of exercise, including walking and running; it analyzes your steps taken, altitude covered, calories burned, and workout duration. Plus, the h2o-resistant device knows when you start pond, and keeps track of your session. At night, Go can distinguish between light and deep sleep cycles.
Pair the wear with the gratuitous Withings Health Mate iOS or Android app to record activity and log food intake via MyFitnessPal integration. The app also provides daily reports and advice, while users can also see how friends are faring, earn badges, and set smart reminders.
The low-ability requirement of the east-ink display means the Withings Go can operate continuously for upward to eight months on the device's button jail cell battery. The Withings Become also transforms into an analog watch face to tell the time.
"Sporting a number of industry firsts, from e'er-on multiple displays to dynamic activity recognition, we take once once again released a product that will make activity tracking accessible for everyone," Withings CEO Cédric Hutchings said in a statement.
Available in 5 colors (black, blue, green, red, yellow), the Go works on the wrist, clipped to a belt or keychain, or in a pocket. The device is on display during this week's CES in Las Vegas, where visitors tin can cease past the Sands Expo Center for a sit-in.
